Traveller AR Beta Launch

Post  Unfrozen Jon on Wed Dec 28, 2011 10:58 pm

With the imminent release of Traveller AR (it's been submitted to the
AppStore in Beta already), many of us will be trying our luck in another iOS
game similar to OE. The Beta will offer players a chance to earn in
game currency for their help and the opportunity to name the planets
they discover and write the backstory on them.

http://www.traveller-ar.com/developer-blog/traveller-ar-beta-submitted-to-appstore-new-player-generated-content-feature-announced/

If you want to join us for another adventure or just keep in touch
from time to time use Mogwee instead of Palringo. It is a superior chat system for iOS (multitasking, background and group notifications) and has a browser based version.

The OE Exiles Mogwee group: (updated 31 Dec 11)

http://www.mogwee.com/a/?cl2e21gu
http://www.mogwee.com/a/?edm1hqs4
http://www.mogwee.com/a/?00857gpa

I hope the old gang keeps in touch through Mogwee as we explore a new game together, even if we do create separate Factions. Quad4 will be present in Traveller AR, if you do not have a faction come join us.R

Since the game is in Beta and may have many features for factions, I have prepped a Quad4 clan site on gamerDNA (a social network for gamers). Along with Mogwees impressive features, faction communication and management will be present even if it's not well supported in the Traveller AR Beta.

I'll be a while as I wouldn't have another iOS device if you paid me. Apple cooked my working 3GS by giving it an update for a phone with a duel core processor, the tossers. When I complained I was told it was "obsolete" and that the 4S was out. Ive gone for a monster HTC and its way better. If they bring it out on Android I'll play otherwise ill stick with Vendetta.....that has decent graphics, its also on pc, and the devs listen. The graphics for traveller look ok, but its been delayed a lot so there's been problems.

Ok, I downloaded it to iPad 2. Clicked on your link, and it gives an error saying that the code has been withdrawn by the sender.

The invitations work for one person at a time. I have several listed above and will update when they get used.

As for Traveller AR release earlier this year being pushed back, I think considering our OE experience that we should all appreciate a Dev team not releasing a game prematurely. They do plan on expanding to Android eventually.

We shall see, as all the game devs and players seem to think that the sun shines out off apples arse.
Looking at iOS and the iPhone in hindsight it's not that great....

I actually missed the gameplay explanation page when scouring the Traveller forums. It answers all the basics on the game and is a very interesting read(displays best in 'Reader' mode).

http://www.traveller-ar.com/about/gameplay-rules/

For a smaller Devs it is easier to start with iOS since they support a much smaller pool of devices and earn, in most cases, at least triple to what they do on the Android Market. Some of the big boys like Gameloft and EA fare much better in the Market.

Not to get too off topic, what do you think of Amazons Android AppStore so far? From what I've read it sounds like a better consumer experience than the standard Android Market.
